Suravi is a faculty lecturer specializing in International Law, Human Rights Law, and Humanitarian Law. With a career spanning education, advocacy, and policy engagement, she brings a rich combination of academic rigor and practical expertise to her roles. Suravi co-founded and advises the India Policy Forum and serves as a faculty member at Jindal Global Law School, where she teaches and designs courses on Contracts, Corporate Governance, and Competition Law. Her work is driven by a commitment to advancing global justice and interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving.
Prior to her current roles, Suravi practiced as a counsel at the Supreme Court of India, specializing in corporate dispute resolution and transactional litigation. Her legal acumen is informed by years of experience in high-stakes arbitration and negotiation, honed under the mentorship of distinguished scholars such as Prof. Jeswald W. Salacuse and Prof. Naz Modirzadeh during her time at Harvard Law School and The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
Suravi’s scholarly pursuits include a thesis on “Women and Law in India,” completed under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Chidi Anslem Odinkalu, which explored the intersection of personal laws and tribal rights in Northeast India. As a researcher and consultant, she has contributed to the Africa Freedom of Information Centre and worked on public policy issues related to international peacekeeping, information access, and governance.
An accomplished international debater and trainer, Suravi has won over 40 debates, including India’s most prestigious tournaments, such as the Slater’s Debate and Sriram Debates, where she was recognized as Best Speaker.
Suravi is a graduate of St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, where she studied English Literature, and holds an LLM from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Her training in International Humanitarian Law is grounded in the Geneva and Hague Conventions, as well as their Additional Protocols. Passionate about history, arts, and pedagogy, Suravi finds fulfillment in blending academic excellence with cultural curiosity.
